About PMware

Purpose-built tools for hardware engineering.

PMware builds focused tools for the engineers who design chips and digital systems. We start from the problem that slows a team down, then build the tool around it.

Mission

Tools that fit the problem.

Hardware engineering has its own bottlenecks: simulations that run for days, design spaces too large to explore, and tools built for general-purpose computing rather than for the work at hand.

PMware’s mission is to build purpose-built tools for that work, and to be plain about what each one does, what it needs, and where it stops being a fit.

First focus

Manticore: RTL simulation beyond the CPU.

Manticore is our first focus. It brings FPGA acceleration to parallel RTL simulation.

What it does

  • Maps compatible single-clock synthesizable Verilog RTL into a statically scheduled program.
  • Runs that program on a manycore array implemented on an FPGA.
  • Aims at compute-heavy workloads where CPU-based simulation is the bottleneck.

Where it has limits

  • The documented hardware is an Alveo U200 with Vivado 2022.1 and XRT.
  • SystemVerilog support is limited, and compatibility with your RTL is assessed per workload.
  • It is not presented as a drop-in replacement for a whole verification flow.

How we work

Scoped, measured, and honest.

Scoped pilots

Commercial pilots are in preparation. Each one is scoped around a real workload, with hardware arrangements and support terms agreed together.

Measured on your design

Published results describe research workloads. Any performance statement for your design would come from measuring your design.

Confidentiality first

A first message can stay high-level. Design files and proprietary details can wait until confidentiality is agreed.

Research grounding

Built on published research.

Manticore grew from peer-reviewed research on static bulk-synchronous parallel RTL simulation. The paper is the technical reference for the architecture behind our pilot.
